85 to 90% of tension held within the body is located in the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ), an area which, if imbalanced, can cause a multitude of problems, from postural issues, neck pain and headaches, locking and clicking jaws, tinnitus and hearing difficulties, to clenching and bruxism (grinding of the teeth). If you have been searching for an answer and not found one, or if your only hope seems to be surgery, then you must try this protocol first!
The Rafferty Energy System of Easing the Temporomandibular joint or (RESET) TMJ Treatment is a simple, non-invasive treatment, which releases tension retained within the masseter, sternocleidomastoid and other muscles of the head, neck and jaw, and enables the body to relax and regain its natural balance. During the treatment, the therapist’s hands are directed in a sequence of movements over the body, focusing in particular on the jaw and facial muscles.
RESET TMJ Treatment produces a rebalancing effect on these muscles, releasing tension if they are too tight (hypertonic) or replenishing them if they lack tone (hypotonic).
RESET TMJ Release is similar to a Reiki treatment, as it is a very gentle and energetic treatment that works very subtly to rebalance the body. Some people are more comfortable with a more active treatment such as Shiatsu to the head, neck and shoulders, which is equally effective but works on a different principle.

TMJ Release Treatment Protocol
Simon has been developing his treatment protocol over the last 10 years to find the most effective combination of RESET TMJ Release, Shiatsu techniques and Craniosacral Therapy in order to bring out a deep and lasting release and rebalancing to the muscles of the head, neck and jaw, which in turn releases the tension and allows the TMJ to return to a place of pain-free ease.
Simon has found that a series of 3 to 6 x 60-minute sessions, carried out around a week apart is ideal for long-term relief, with occasional top-ups (around 3 to 6 months after the initial treatment) as required. Simon is currently developing a comprehensive support package to help you get the best results from your treatments and empowering you to be self-sufficient in managing recurring symptoms in future (check back soon for updates!) Although it is likely that you will experience pain and tension relief after your first session of Shiatsu and RESET TMJ Release it is important that you complete the course of treatments in order to gain the full and lasting benefits of the sessions. Tension resides in our bodies at different levels and as it takes time to build up it also takes time to be removed.
Emotional basis of TMJ Disorder
Issues with the Jaw and TMJ disorders, in particular, are likely to have a basis in stress and some held or unresolved emotional charge, even if they are seemingly irrelevant or barely remembered experiences, it is very likely that a combination of emotionally stressful events of your past have triggered the symptoms. This therapy is not a ‘talkie therapy’ so won’t explore these issues with you as such, but it is beneficial to be observant of what arises during the treatments and to allow these experiences to leave your body. You can talk about them if you want but it’s not necessary for the treatments to be effective. As such it is wise to be aware that in the days after the treatment you may experience various emotions coming to the surface. Just observe these and allow them to pass through you. They are no longer needed in your body.

I felt refreshed and relaxed for days after the massage
I had a 90 minute full body Thai Yoga Massage from Simon and I felt very relaxed all the way through the session. First of all the room was set up well, it was warm and relaxing music was playing.
